The Nutcracker - Snowflakes

„Pociťuji plnou neschopnost hudebně vyjádřit horu cukrovinek,“ napsal svému bratru Modestovi Petr Iljič Čajkovskij. Důvod? Slavný ruský hudební skladatel si v jednom okamžiku nevěděl rady s divadelní baletní pohádkovou inscenací Louskáček.

Můj papírový betlém (a papírová Paříž)

Made by Joel: Paper City Nativity Scene

Getting Excited about the Nutcracker!

Very, very, very soon I’ll visit the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava, Czech Republic. Guess what I’m going to see there. Yesssss, the Nutcracker!

The Nutcracker

It is played all around the Czech Republic every Christmas.

But I’m going to see it for the first time!

About the Nutcracker – I love the story. I hope I’ll find some X-mas decorations with the Nutcracker in Wien! (I’m going there to visit Christmas markets this Saturday.) I already know that parents looked for the origin story (book) for me, and they want to put it under the Christmas tree. Gasp! And last weekend I found something very special on Amazon. So, I decided to buy it. It is The Nutcracker Ballet: A Book, Theater, and Paper Doll Fold-out Play Set.

Boy + Bot a robotické překvapení na konec

Všude je všechno Halloweeny.

Co si dát pauzu? Třeba s roboty. Čapkovi by se divili!

Boy & Bot

Literary Greats Paper Dolls

Literary Greats Paper DollsI can’t even tell you how happy I was, when I saw Literary Greats Paper Dolls by Tim Foley.

Since I’ve started to collect all that kind of paper stuff as paper dolls, paper theatres and/or other folding paper toys, I’m seriously excited every time I see something like this.

Yes, I totally agree. This is a perfect gift for every bookworm.

Why I like Literary Greats Paper Dolls

“This book features 35 caricatures of famous authors, including Shakespeare, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, Ayn Rand, and Charles Dickens. Each writer is depicted in doll form and accompanied by three costumes that offer humorous, knowing references to characters from their most popular works,” claimed the publisher.

Just imagine Charles Dickens himself as Marley’s Ghost, J. R. R. Tolkien as Gandalf, Jane Austen as Mr. Darcy or Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as Sherlock Holmes or a pink fairy!

Isn’t it funny?

Frankly, the book is too adorable for cutting, but thank you Mr. Foley for such an entertainment.

How to play with Literary Greats Paper Dolls

If you don’t want to destroy the book and cut your literary greats out, you must copy them. So, choose your favorite writer and his/her literary character you like the most and use a copy machine. Then take a pair of very sharp scissors.

Literary Greats Paper Dolls

Cut your beloved and his/her character out. Do it properly. Pay a special attention to hands, fingers, or hair. If it’s necessary, use smaller scissors.

Have a Rollicking Good Time

You must be very patient. If you are not, f. e. you are in a hurry, just let it be and try to do it later. If you have a free time, and you’ve just decided to finish this, beware of your thoughts. Are they positive? You should have a rollicking good time!

Literary Greats Paper Dolls

When everything is cutted out, the best part of playing starts: Take clothes of your favorite literary character and put them on your writer.

Ta-da!

Literary Greats Paper Dolls

Lewis Carroll has just turned into the Mad Hatter! What a lovely madness!

Now

What is your opinion of Literary Greats Paper Dolls? Did you know them? Did you play or learn/teach with them? How? I really wanna know! Please, feel free to leave a comment below.

„Určitě to stačí. Dal jsem ti jen malého beránka.“
Sklonil se nad kresbu.
„No, on není zas moc malý… Jé, podívej, on usnul…“
Tak jsem se seznámil s malým princem.
